Field guide · Daily operations

A daily follow-up routine for superintendents.

The daily plan changes as work moves. This adaptable routine keeps open decisions, trade handoffs and reported completions visible without turning every field walk into paperwork.

Four moments to review the work.

Use the timing that fits your site. The point is to close the loop between the morning plan, new information, the next responsible person and an honest end-of-day status.

  1. 01

    Before the first walk

    What is still waiting?

Scan open and blocked work, unanswered field questions, and yesterday's reported completions that still need review. Pick the items that affect today's trade sequence or access.

  2. 02

    During the walk

    What changed on site?

Record new observations close to where they happen. Include the location and the decision or correction needed. Keep a photo or plan reference when it makes the issue clearer, and distinguish an observed fact from a guess.

  3. 03

    At the handoff

    Who moves it next?

Confirm the next person or trade, the result they need to provide, and when to check back. A text saying an item was sent is not the same as an acknowledged assignment or a resolved blocker.

  4. 04

    Before leaving

    What was actually checked?

Review what came back, record any team verification that occurred, and carry unresolved work into the next day's view. Keep reported completion separate from accepted work.

Illustrative example

Carry a decision into the work.

This fictional scenario is a field-practice example, not a customer result or a STRUXIS product demonstration.

The cabinet installer is ready, but the approved finish is unclear. The superintendent records the room and the decision needed, then asks the project manager to confirm the approved schedule before installation proceeds.

When the decision comes back, the superintendent passes that answer to the installer and records that it was acknowledged. Later, the superintendent checks the installed face against the approved direction before the countertop template. Any remaining correction stays open with its next owner.

The daily follow-up view answers what still needs action. A daily log records what happened on the job that day under the project's normal reporting practice. A log entry can explain a delay, but it should not silently close the action item.

A short end-of-day review.

  • Which trade or decision is blocking tomorrow's work?
  • Which handoffs were acknowledged, and which still need a response?
  • Which items were reported complete but have not been checked?
  • What must remain visible at the next walk or coordination meeting?

For the details each item should carry, read the jobsite task-tracking guide. For corrections found on a walkthrough, see when to use a punch list.

How STRUXIS is being built around this.

STRUXIS is construction field-operations software in development, designed to carry field observations into human-reviewed work, follow-through, verification and retrievable history.

Daily Logs and other supporting tools are still being refined. Check the current product status, the paused Early Access status, or browse all field guides.
